The Pacific Green Party of Oregon is happy to announce that it will sponsor a “Green Campaign School” at the Portland Community College Cascade Campus on Saturday, March 16, in Terrell Hall, from 9am—5:30 pm. The PCC campus is located at 705 N. Killingsworth Street in Portland.
The Green Campaign School will focus on electing Green candidates to local and state offices and will feature classes on the nuts and bolts of campaigns, including: assembling a campaign team, creating effective campaign literature, raising money, handling and using voter data, reporting required financial information, using traditional and social media, and developing the role of the candidate in the campaign.
In addition to the Pacific Green Party, other sponsors of the event include the Green Party of Washington, PCC’s Peace and Conflict Studies Program, and the Jill Stein for President Campaign. The instructors for the event will include staff from the Stein campaign and veteran campaigners from the Pacific Green Party. Featured speakers include Richard Hervey, the President of the Corvallis City Council, and Bill Smaldone, a former President of the Salem City Council—both members of the Pacific Green Party.
All members of the public, especially those interested in promoting the Green Party’s values of peace, social justice, democracy and sustainability, are welcome. Admission for PCC students and staff will be free. Otherwise, admission will be on a sliding scale with no one turned away for lack of funds.
