Buying Local
There are many reasons to buy locally-produced goods and services. Local products aren’t shipped long distances, reducing the use of fossil fuels and other environmental impacts. Our votes give us some control over local labor and environmental laws, while faraway businesses are under no such oversight. Small, local businesses are a part of their community in ways that multinational corporations are not. Finally, locally-produced goods and services pass through fewer hands on their way to you, reducing opportunities for speculation and other profiteering.
