SCC Meeting Minutes 26 March 2010
State Co-ordinating Committee, Pacific Green party of Oregon
Telephone Conference 26 March 2010, 7 pm
[308] 344-6400 access 864543#
Present: Mike Van Handel, Tristin Mock, Seth Woolley, Michael Meo, Suzia AufderHeide
Previous Meeting Minutes: Accepted without correction
Implementation of a Monthly Report of Recent Voter Registrations: After some discussion of Pat Drsicoll's email report, and Seth's explanation of the availability of monthly data on the Secretary of State's website, Mike Van Handel volunteered to provide the SCC with a monthly report of trends in new voter registrations in the state of Oregon.
Adjustment of National Representatives: The National party has determined to reduce the number of state representatives across the board, and for our state the consequence is that we are to have four national representatives in place of six. The determination was held until next week, when the members of the SCC will have had an opportunity to sound the present national representatives on their willingness to shorten their term of service.
Participation in Email Address Sharing: The item requires no action by the SCC. The for-profit company melissa delta data provides for a fee the email address of those folks for whom it is given a name and mailing address. That service is more efficient the wider the population for whom it is conducted. The Independent Party and the Progressive Party already have a contract with melissa delta data, and we can receive the service free simply by agreeing to be included in the pool.
We agree.
Letter to Senator Wyden regarding the pending Forest Bill: Discussion of this item brought out a number of pros and cons. There is some sentiment for establishing a committee of interested Pacific Green Party officials to screen possible endorsements and submit them already vetted to the SCC. Such a motion carried, naming George Hutchinson as one member and including Tristin Mock as a second. On the very first item to come before the SCC, the forest bill in question, there were differing opinions, so that consideration was prorogued until the next meeting.
Next Week: Suzia to act as facilitator, Tristin as note-taker
Respectfully submitted, M. Meo
