200+ new Greens registered at Hempstalk in Portland!

Well, all of the voter registration cards were counted up and turned in today to the county elections office.

At Hempstalk this weekend, our awesome group of dedicated and highly motivated volunteers registered a total of 107 voters on Saturday (9/10/11) and 96 voters on Sunday (9/11/11). ALL were registrations for the Pacific Green Party.

Incidentally, a HUGE thank you needs to go out to our volunteers for this event, as the 200+ new members they (we) registered this weekend is a respectably significant 10% portion of the 2000 registered voters, who are needed for our party to retain/ maintain ballot access.

Equally notable, Pacific Green Hempstalkers registered an estimated 75'ish or so Washington voters per day, each of the two days (referring them to the Washington State Green Party website for more information), while, furthermore, gathering signatures for four ballot initiatives (Two in Oregon and two in Washington) and circulating a petition to help save the Bison.

Much like many other Hempstalks past (This being our 7th consecutive year, attending this event), the heat was bearing down on us with little relief. Nevertheless, spirits -- for the most part -- remained high, as everyone pulled together to pull off, yet, another successful voter registration drive at Hempstalk 2011!

THANK YOU, Hempstalk volunteers, one and all, new and old!!! We hope to see you again at next year!!!

Special thanks should also go out to Paul Loney, who (every year, for the last seven years) has secured a space for us at Hempstalk -- FREE of charge to the state party -- saving $100 each year for a total of $700 in real savings to the party. Without Paul having the party's back on finding us space to maintain a constant party presence, we wouldn't have registered an estimated 1400 new members over the past seven year of Hempstalk's existence.

Thank you, Paul Loney!!!

Last but not least, a great deal of appreciation is due the state party for making a capitol investment in a sorely needed, top-of the-line, professional-looking, easy-to-work-with new canopy. It really made a difference and we received a grip of positive feedback from other vendors and passers-by, who loved it, just as much as we. It was clearly an asset for the party!

Thank you, SCC folks!!!

SO, with Hempstalk now over, it begs the question, What's next?
