Green Nominating Convention 11/19/2011 at Metanoia House in Portland
The Pacific Green Party of Oregon will hold its convention to consider nominating a candidate for the 1st. congressional district seat, recently vacated by David Wu, in Portland on Nov. 19. Planned to begin at 10:00 a.m., the convention will be held at the Metanoia Peace House, 2116 NE 18th, at the corner of NE Tillamook and NE 18th. Morning activities will include introductions and brainstorming sessions addressing campaign issues as well as prioritization of post-election activities. Also in the morning, the Portland Mad as Hell Doctors will give an address on advancing Health Care for All Oregonians. In the afternoon session, beginning at 1:30, candidates for the 1st CD seat will be introduced to give brief addresses, followed by question and answer sessions. The convention will then attempt to select a nominee using an instant runoff voting (IRV) process. Following the nomination of a candidate, the final order of business will be organization of a campaign committee. The convention is expected to adjourn at 4:30 p.m.
