War

It is essential that we develop effective alternatives to society’s current patterns of violence. We call for:

• an immediate ceasefire in the Afghanistan war and pullout of all American troops as quickly as possible
• an end to drone strikes
• closure of US military bases around the world

Above all, we must re-direct America's vast non-productive spending on war into productive social investments:

• creating Green public sector jobs via a non-profit Corporation for Economic Development
• expanding Medicare to cover everyone
• retiring student debt
• transitioning to a Green economy built on sustainable development and renewable energy

We will work to demilitarize, and eliminate weapons of mass destruction, without being naïve about the intentions of other governments or the vulnerability of certain populations. We promote nonviolent methods to oppose practices and policies with which we disagree, and will guide our actions toward lasting personal, community, and global peace.
