The Power and Potential of DIY Democracy

family_farms_coalition_banner.jpg   From an article written by Blair Bobier for Common Dreams: A seismic shift in the American political landscape has gone largely unnoticed.  Yet, the implication of this political earthquake knows no bounds.

On Tuesday, voters in two Oregon counties—one of them rural and conservative—voted to ban GMO’s.  In 2012, voters in five states legalized gay marriage and the recreational use of cannabis.

Obama_Monsanto.jpg

In 2007, President Obama vowed he would strive to "let folks know when their food is genetically modified, because Americans have a right to know what they're buying".

hanford.jpg   May 18th Associated Press article published online May 2014 on the status: basically the worst cleanup work still remains to be done with half of the money going to "operate" the facility instead of being used to actually clean anything up  This comes on top of the ongoing DENIAL of worker's compensation to seriously ill Hanford workers, which should be a huge scandal.

President Obama reneges on Equal Pay

President_Obama.jpeg    From the Guardian/UK but reported in Common Dreams "Obama's Epic Fail on Equal Pay: LGBT Need Not Apply? Executive actions are great. But not when they exclude millions. And especially when they don't live up to promises ... this represents an embarrassing stain on the Obama record. He promised to sign the executive order over six years ago. Yet he's still dilly dallying while his representatives continue to make up reasons for why he refuses to sign it. Each one lamer than the last."
