Senators Wyden and Merkley—Support the Iran Nuclear Deal!

MerkleyWyden.jpg

Sign the following ad to be placed on OregonLive: On July 14th 2015, President Obama signed the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) aka the “Iran Nuclear Deal” on behalf of the United States and its citizens. This agreement is being overwhelmingly supported around the world, by the United Nations, NATO, the European Union, the Arab League, the National Iranian American Council, and dozens of former ambassadors and analysts.

The Oregon voters whose names appear below most strongly urge Senators Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley to show their support for this historic agreement. To vote against it would be a vote for war, would undermine the Executive authority to negotiate agreements on behalf of the United States, and would destroy months of delicate and difficult negotiations. It would also defy the overwhelming wishes and support of the international community.  To sign the ad click on Read More.

War is not the answer

The undeclared war in Afghanistan is the longest war in the history of our nation.  Since 2003 the United States and its allies have started new wars in Iraq, Libya, Syria, Yemen, Somalia, and the Ukraine killing tens of thousands of innocent civilians and creating millions of refugees.

Rep DeFazio votes to arm Ukraine

Peter_DeFazio__Official_Portrait__112th_Congress.jpg

On March 23rd 2015 Congress DeFazio voted with an overwhelming majority of war-mongering Republicans and Democrats to call on President to arm the Kiev junta.   First, sending such weapons is a clear violation of the Minsk 2 agreement negotiated between Russia, Kiev junta, Germany, and France.  Recall that the Kiev junta was installed by a violent coup - fomented by the US - in Feb 2014 against a democratically elected government.

More importantly, arming the Kiev junta and their neo-Nazi militias will enable them to attack ethnic Russians living in eastern Ukraine in the Donbas and Luhansk regions.  An attack of this sort is intended to draw Russia into full out war with the Ukraine and NATO, which Russia has so far resisted.  When will the Congressman sponsor a vote to use DIPLOMACY to settle this issue, instead of weapons?

Hillary Clinton's ties with Ukranian Oligarchs

330px-Hillary_Clinton_official_Secretary_of_State_portrait_crop.jpg   It has recently been reported that Ukrainian oligarch Viktor Pinchuk, a vocal proponent of Ukraine's European integration, made huge contributions to the Clinton Foundation, while Hillary Clinton was the US Secretary of State. Among individual donors contributing to the Clinton Foundation in the period between 1999 and 2014, Ukrainian sponsors took first place in the list, providing the charity with almost $10 million.   The recent "game of thrones" in Ukraine has been apparently instigated by a few powerful clans - Nuland and Kagan come to mind - of the US and Ukraine, who are evidently benefitting from the ongoing turmoil. In this light the Clinton Foundation looks like something more than just a charity: in today's world of fraudulent oligopoly we are facing with global cronyism, experts point out, warning against its devastating consequences.

Wyden pushes water, logging bills

Wyden.jpg

Read the article in Eugene Register Guard about Senator Merkley's gift to the timber industry. In the 1980's it's agreed by most forest biologists not funded by the logging industry, that there was mass over-cutting of the forests in the Pacific Northwest. This O&C clear cutting bill is a gift to the timber industry at the cost of the people, clean water, air, biodiversity and long term economic health.

President Obama reneges on GMO Labelling

Obama_Monsanto.jpg

In 2007, President Obama vowed he would strive to "let folks know when their food is genetically modified, because Americans have a right to know what they're buying".

In 2013, after having placed former Monsanto VP Michael Taylor as head of the FDA, President Obama signs into law HR 933, which protects companies from having to label their genetically modified food.
