Stop TPP!

TPP needs to go to the US Congress in coming months. Once they read the actual text (which has been secret until now) more will turn against It. They can defeat it - but they can’t amend it.  Both Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders have voiced their opposition to the deal, which shows what a political tightrope the deal would be walking in order to be passed.  We need your help in expressing your OPPOSITION to the TPP by contacting your Oregon congressional representatives.  Click here for talking points.

mom_beaten_by_police.jpg   A California mom is suing local police for “egregious police brutality.” She says officers pulled her over for a “bogus” traffic violation and beat her in front of her two young kids in immediate retaliation for complaining about a cop’s behavior.  Here's a full news report.

President Obama reneges on Equal Pay

President_Obama.jpeg    From the Guardian/UK but reported in Common Dreams "Obama's Epic Fail on Equal Pay: LGBT Need Not Apply? Executive actions are great. But not when they exclude millions. And especially when they don't live up to promises ... this represents an embarrassing stain on the Obama record. He promised to sign the executive order over six years ago. Yet he's still dilly dallying while his representatives continue to make up reasons for why he refuses to sign it. Each one lamer than the last."

Merkley admits his vote will hurt hungry families in Oregon

Posted on Media/News by Trisha Driscoll · February 04, 2014 5:55 PM
Senator_Merkley.JPG   "We are cutting programs at a time of record inequality in our nation, and yes, they will hurt families in Oregon, some of these core programs that simply put food on the table," Merkley said.  Oregonians will receive about $60 a month less in SNAP benefits.  He still voted YES for the Farm Bill, as did Senator Wyden.  On the other hand, Congressional Representative Peter Defazio's Eugene staffer remarked on a call that he voted NO on the farm bill because "it would hurt poor and hungry people".
