Tim Dehne, Scio, OR

Running for: Oregon House District 17

Name of incumbent:  Open seat

Why do you want to run for that office, vision/goals, how do you define winning:

tim dehneI will feel I've won when sworn into office. I now live in Scio, which is where the current Rep., Sherrie Sprenger, lives. Sherrie is not running for re-election. Instead she is running for County Commissioner. During primary there were 6 Republicans running for District 17. One democrat. Primary winner was Jami Cate. She is a fifth generation farmer. Very Lebanon oriented. It seems she was not running to show her support for Trump. However she beat 5 males, 3 of which touted their Trump support. So a very interesting candidate. And here I am. An outsider that thinks he can win. But wait. I am a member of the Lacomb Grange. I am a long time member of the Oddfellow Lodge in Scio. I am the District Deputy Grand Master of the district that includes Scio, Stayton, and Mill City. I live on 60 acres. I hope to grow peanuts, peaches, and Paw Paw. I have Czech ancestry. Scio was founded by Czechs. I feel so good living here. So I feel perfectly situated to see a member of the Green Party in the state legislature. The goal is the shake things up and demonstrate that someone other than a Democrat or Republican get things done for the people they represent.

Three key policies, messages:

Water - It is and always has been the most important issue in the world, let alone District 17. Hemp - Oregon has seen tremendous growth in the Hemp Industry. But it is only the beginning. Besides the medical aspects of hemp, Oregon can develop it's potential for food, fiber and fuel. It is the most versatile crop in history. Oregon needs a firewall to keep the outside influence of Corporate money from influencing Oregon issues. Oregon has great potential to be a self sustaining state. Not a subsidiary of Big Business. We need to pass Health Care for All Oregon. I believe HCAO will be a boon to small business. And more people may feel inclined to start their own business. "Your health is your wealth, if you are wise."

What is your plan, benchmarks:

To be seen, being Green

Resources you anticipate needing, treasure mapping:

12 signs - 4' x 8' , in strategic locations. Extra bike tires and tubes. Copies of the Constitution of US and OR.

Potential obstacles:

will likely be outspent 10 to 1. District 17 and Linn County have been in Republican hands for quite a while. Can I demonstrate to the voters I believe in "...the people." I need help contemplating the negatives.

How much money do you plan to spend? How will you raise the funds?

Up to $750. With a 10 for Tim campaign.

Relevant experience and/or other

I was elected to Benton Soil & Water & Conservation District. 2005 -2008 I ran for Benton County Commissioner in 2010, 2012, 2016, and 2018. In 2018 I had 4 opponents, but no Republican. Benton county passed ranked choice voting. It will be used in the 2020 election to decide the County Commissioner. Benton county will be a featured national news story. Every Green should know Article II Section 16.
