Winter Convention Recap

We are pleased to announce Pacific Green Party members Ken Adams, James Dashiell, Josiah Dean, and Teddy Holt were elected to the State Coordinating Committee (SCC) at the Winter Convention. Voting closed Tuesday night at 8 pm. The four newly elected members of the SCC join Greg Bourget, Mary Geddry, and Amy L. Sacks who still have another year remaining on their 2-year terms.

James Dashiell, a 2024 candidate for Benton County Commissioner, said he would like to help "promote a culture of cooperation and teamwork within the Green Party here in Oregon."

Teddy Holt received the most first-place votes, and becomes the youngest member of the SCC at age 25. Holt already has considerable political organizing experience working on a number of projects and campaigns, including the Portland Clean Air Fund. When asked about his vision for the Pacific Green Party, Holt said: "I would like to see the party get back on track with tangible acts of community building and resistance... Sharing and making Green Party values visible to the public will be even more necessary in our current political landscape. We can set a standard that the voters will demand of their elected officials, no matter their party."

Ken Adams, currently the PGP Treasurer, brings a wealth of experience including a previous stint on the SCC. Adams has been a registered Green in Oregon and California for nearly 30 years. He was the spokesperson for the California Green Party, Sacramento Chapter, from 1997 to 2006 and served on the California State Coordinating Committee for two years in the early 2000s. Adams has also run for Congress (1998 and 2000), and for Sacramento Unified School District Board in 2006 in response to a request from Sacramento labor and parent groups. When asked what he'd like to see the Pacific Green Party accomplish over the next two years, Adams said: "We need more active chapters reaching out to our local communities and increasing voter registration efforts." As of January 1, the Pacific Green Party has 8,118 active registered voters.

Josiah Dean has served as city counselor, on several non-profit boards, and is a small business owner in Dufur, Oregon. Dean was looking to get more involved with the Pacific Green Party and wants to, "increase awareness that the Green party is a viable alternative to the duopoly."

Josiah Dean was also elected as a delegate to the Green Party US National Committee, and Connor Salisbury was named to the SCC Reserve.
